The Courier Freeway Alliance code of practice
All Courier Freeway Alliance members agree to follow this code of practice:
- a free site will not be used as a way to direct business to a pay site
- if the site owner, webmaster or operator has other business interests which could benefit from use of the free site, this will be made clear on the free site
- if some parts of the site are charged for, these will be genuine value-added services/content, and the rest of the site will be useable and useful without payment
- if free use of the site is for a limited time or is an introductory offer, this will be made clear to users before they complete any registration process
- a free site may use member lists to send genuine email newsletters or announcements related to the site (preferably with an opt-out facility), but will not use member lists to send unsolicited advertising material
- user data will not be sold, used on another site, passed on to a third party, or used for any purpose than the user explicitly agreed to (except at the legitimate request of a legal authority)
- the site will include some means for users to request the removal of all their data, and this will be actioned within a reasonable time
- the site will include some means for users to contact the site owner/webmaster, and all contacts will be responded to within a reasonable time
- the site will include at least one of:
- the owner's real name
- the owner's normal business name
- the owner's full postal address
